Whenever clients say they would never ever want to take photos in the snow, I always ask them what their concerns are if it does snow on their session day. A lot of the answers have to do with how cold its going to be. But let me tell you, there are ways to do snow sessions and they look so stinking cute. The best way to approach a snowy session is add winter accessories that add to the cohesion of the photo. Get bennies or mittens that are neutral colors or with in your desired color pallet. Find sweaters, coats, or a variety of layers that will look cute together with your whole family. Wear wool socks and throw hand warmers in your shoes and your pockets so that you can have some warmth in between takes. Bring a hot drink to sip on after your sessions over or when your not the ones in front of the camera. There are lots of ways to make it more comfortable. Not to mention sessions don’t have to be a million hours long. We do short quick sessions so your not standing in the cold for hours on end. And if anything else fails, then I send them in the directions of galleries like this one that my adorable associate Simply Shelby by Emily Kaye took. If this session doesn’t convince you that you CAN do a snow session and make it beautiful then I don’t know what will.
